Al-Rheni XXIII
Born Jawarhalal al-Rheni in 490 CE. Assumed the Sudaani Imperial Throne in 548 after his father's untimely death in battle during The Great War.
The numerical designation is derived from an archaic numbering system used in the empire before the Great War.
Al-Rheni XXIII is the emperor of Sudaan from 548 until his death in 589 of the common era.
Shortly before he assumed the throne, the imperial family had taken in the sole survivors of the bloody coup against the Cascadian monarch Charles VII. These two young children were Edward Winslow and Charlotte Winslow, who were then fostered alongside the heirs to the imperial throne. Edward later reclaimed his father's throne and became king Edward IV of Cascadia. His sister Charlotte married Al-Rheni's oldest grandson, who is in line for the imperial throne after the demise of Al-Rheni XXIV.
During his rule Al-Rheni XXIII is widely considered to be the most powerful sole monarch on Menelon. The Empire of Sudaan covers the entire continent of Menekhal and the great island chain between it and the Trunk of Istane.
