That Dreadful Back Street

In every city, it seems there is that dreadful backstreet. That's true of Western Angels, in the City of Fernwall, we well. It's well known for its old, narrow, winding streets and back alleys as, it is for the ubiquitous "brownstone" for which the city is famous. During the day, wagons often crowd these streets, laden with everything from the thousands of tons of coal the residents burn every day to the thousands of tons of food that must be delivered fresh, every morning. At night, it's different, of course. In the photo, you can almost sense the thieves hiding in the deep doorways or looking down from the iron works or rooftops far above. In fact, it was to a back street just like this that Iris descended with Raven, on that dreadful night.
