Püran-Khir

Püran-Khir is the capital city of Vin-Nôrë. It is known as the City of Kings, the Diadem of the Northern Peaks, the City of Fountains. Once the jewel of the north, Püran-Khir was a city of light and water, both being very important to the Vin-Nôrëan interpretation of the Guardian Paladin religion. The city was overrun by the Confederation  forces in the common years 526 - 540, during which time it was nearly razed to the ground by war orcs. The Confederation didn't even have their ships unloaded in the port before the Count of Nurinen ordered a section of the massive stone work to be destroyed on his lands where he could defend it, thus depriving the City of Fountains of virtually all of its water for the entire interregnum of the orcish occupation.

The city was reclaimed by in 541 by the IMMC and became its headquarters for northern operations until 549. After that, the city was turned back over to civilian control. Policing powers were in the hands of the Royal Army until basic civic infrastructures could be restored.

During the years of IMMC governance, a black market for foodstuffs and all basic supplies grew up in "Low Town," what the locals called the shanties and shacks built along the bluffs just below the city proper. As the military occupation continued, the black market turned into full-blown war profiteering for a select few, and vast fortunes were made by men and women unscrupulous enough to deal with the Confederation and its deserters to get it. The last traces of Low Town (as Angel and Louis knew it when they lived there) was eradicated by King Cashëmin and his Royal Guard in 553.
