What is known:

Balkland is known to be a fierce, somewhat primitive, and largely misunderstood country in the far north of the continent of Korak.

They maintain a complex seafaring culture and their warships are light and fast. Their wolfpack tactics at sea are feared by most of the nations of Sylantia.

Their society is clan-based (as is much of Menelon) and largely patriarchal.

As a people they worship the God B'nach and for centuries it was the only recognized religion within the country's borders. In 589 King Olaf allowed the legal worship of Urilia (as opposed to the worship of the Sea Goddess) within Balkland's borders.

The years 589 - 593 have seen a vast cultural and societal evolution in Balkland as they've given up their isolationist policies and have become embroiled in international politics.
