Vincent Caldwell-Sultaire is the youngest son of three, born to the Baron of Valemount, Sir James Whitmore-Sultaire and Marissa Caldwell-Ravencross, who died of scarlet fever shortly after Vincent was born.
When we first meet him in the short story Raven's Lair (free) he's already left his unhappy home, hoping to find a better future in "the city", i.e. in Fernwall. He next appears as one of the main characters in Raven's Tear's, where a lot more of his background and character are revealed as the story unfolds.
